Thailand Home Cooking Class

Located at Ikoria kitchen (formerly Women's Center)

We learned Namutokkumuu, Gayan and Man Tonkin home style cooking from Harutai Nam Kashiwabara.18 interested participants created dishes with spices unique to Thailand. In addition, instructor Harutai Nam Kashiwabara is a student from Sunday's Japanese classroom. She won a prize and the popular President's Award at last years IAC foreign speech tournament.

 

Contents of the dishes we learned today (recipes can be found here)

1. gMuuh means pig, gNamutokkuh means waterfall and gNamutokkumuuh is the pork dish

The unique aromas of Thai cooking included, mint, coriander, and pork cooked in nahm bplah (fish sauce)

2. gGayanh means yakitori. Grilled chicken with oyster sauce, nahm bplah, milk and pepper

3. gMan Tonkinh is a Thai dessert.  Sweet potato (Man) and sliced ginger (Kin)  boiled in sugar
