Nine French university students from ENSTA took part in a homestay in Chigasaki. From July 6 to July 24, they spent three weeks staying with host families and engaging in various activities including, Japanese language classes (twice a week), visits to a high school and a university, and a company as well as cultural experiences such as kimono dressing and the tea ceremony. They also joined a welcome party and a farewell event with speeches, enjoying meaningful international exchange throughout their stay. During their free time, some students traveled to places like Enoshima, Kamakura, Tokyo, and Kyoto. After the homestay in Chigasaki, they moved on to their respective company internships. We are grateful for the meaningful connections made through this experience and hope that small exchanges like these will help promote peace around the world.
At Shoraian, the staff from the Japanese Culture Association helped them put on hakama. They then enjoyed matcha tea and traditional sweets.
At the welcome party, they all had fun with quizzes and playing kendama.
They were divided into groups of three and learned various Japanese expressions from the Japanese language staff.
During the high school visit, they joined classes and were dressed in yukata by the students before dancing the Bon Dance together.
Also learned “Kanagawa Ondo song” from the students. (Click here for movie)
At the university visit, they tried traditional Japanese games such as karuta, fukuwarai, and kendama.
During the company visit, they were given a tour of the car engine production process.
See you again!
