<Homestay for French university students> (About three weeks every July, about 8 students)
Our association plans and runs a homestay program for French university students, commissioned by Intercultural Society for the Arts. This relationship, which began in 1990, continues to this day. In addition to helping the students learn about Japanese culture and customs, we also provide opportunities to interact with high school and university students in Chigasaki and to visit a local company.
Main activities during the homestay
・Welcome party
・Japanese language classes (in cooperation with: Sunday Japanese Class / Thursday Japanese Class)
・Kimono dressing and tea ceremony experience (in cooperation with: Japanese Culture Group)
・School visits : a high school and a university in the city
・Company visit
・Japanese speech presentation & farewell party
<Homestay for Australian university students> (Four days every November, about 8 students)
Mitsui & Co. (Australia) Ltd. (Mitsui Education Fund, MEF) invites Australian university students to Japan every year to promote economic and cultural exchange between Japan and Australia and to deepen understanding of Japan. During their three‑week study tour, our association is in charge of arranging a three‑night, four‑day homestay. This program began in Kamakura in 1971, and after being transferred to our association, it has continued for more than 30 years as a short‑term homestay program.
Main activities during the homestay
・Welcome party
・Kimono dressing and tea ceremony experience (in cooperation with: Japanese Culture Group)
・School visits : an elementary, a junior high and a high school in the city
